Specializing in raccoon rescue and raptor recovery.
R&R Rehab

We are a small, privately run, not-for-profit facility on the Delmarva Peninsula. We care for all types of orphaned and injured wildlife but prefer to concentrate primarily on  "Procyon Lotor" which is latin for raccoon. Lotor means "washer" and raccoon is Algonquin for arakun, meaning "he scratches with his hands".

If you have found an abandoned or orphaned raccoon do not attempt to handle it without proper assistance. Raccoons can harbor  serious diseases and are a known rabies vector species.

Contact your local Dept. of Fish & Wildlife and/or animal control. They can assist you in locating a qualified animal rehabilitator.
We have been trained in field stabilization and transport methods for most native species, but prefer working with raptors.

All birds refered to R&R are transported to Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, Inc.  in Newark, DE usually within 24 hours. This highly respected organization can be found on our Links page.

If you have found a hurt or injured raptor contact your local Dept. of Fish & Wildlife and/or animal control. They can assist you in locating a qualified animal rehabilitator or Tri-State volunteer.

If you can capture the bird place it in a suitably sized box in a secure area away from noise and out of the weather until qualified help arrives.
